Intruder Update and Guest Selfie: Caturday Art and Sunday Selfies

 Hallo again, Effurrybody!

Mummy made her furrst attempt this morning at getting Intruder Kitty CalliCallou into the PTU Cat Carrier and taking her to the V-E-T, so as to make sure she has no dangerous, infectious diseases she could pass to Us, before bringing her indoors and making her one of the Furr-mily..
You will no doubt have gathered - since We said "attempt" - that it was unsuccessful. CalliCallou was spooked the moment she saw the Cat Carrier and backed off. Mummy tried to tempt her with Treats, but CalliCallou, was too smart and streetwise to fall for that old trick. Mummy tried to grab her and push her into the Cat Carrier, but CalliCallou wasn't having any of that. Oh, she was very polite and well-behaved. She didn't bite or scratch. But she still made it quite clear that she was NOT going into the PTU. So Mummy put the Carrier back inside and stroked and petted CalliCallou - and CalliCallou, surprisingly, let her. Mummy was afraid She had scared CalliCallou right off, but she came back for lunch - together with another little kitty who is always hanging around her (Mummy's neighbour thinks the other kitty is CalliCallou's daughter, though Mummy thinks it's a baby mancat).

So Mummy thinks that since CalliCallou seems to be happy just staying out on the porch and getting regular meals and hanging out with the other kitty (who is light peach and white, and whom Mummy calls Melba, after Peach Melba), She will just leave her there till after the High Holy Days and then, when it starts getting cold at night, and maybe rainy too, She will have another try. Maybe CalliCallou will be more amenable then. What bothers Mummy, however, and Us too, is what to do with the other little kitty. We live in a medium-sized apawtment and there really isn't room for FIVE kitties!

Uncle Messi - who lives with Grandpaw and Step-Grandma - gave Us a Power-of-Cattorney to turn his Selfie into Art, so We took it over to LunaPic. There we applied the Coffee filter - coffee being a thing Mummy seemingly can't do without, like many Humans, it appears (mol/bol):

Snoozing In Many Colours: Caturday Art And Sunday Selfies With Shimshi

Hallo again, Effurrybuddies!  

Shimshi here, enjoying a Sunday Snoozie - and while I don't mind My Human waking Me up to take selfies (because I am super Handsome, after all - effurrybody says so!), I do object to her sneaking up on Me while I am snoozing, in order to Assault Me with a Dreadful Device known as The Furminator!!!

Yes, that's what She did, kitties! She said my coat was getting matted, just like it did this time Last Year and that if I didn't want to be hauled off to the Evil V-E-T, who would likely simply shear off my furs, I had better let her use this grooming device She bought a year ago, after my Previous Attack of Matted Fur!

Now, kitties, I don't know about you, but as an expurrienced cattorney, I call that Duress!!! 

But prefurrable to a visit to the Evil Stabby Place, I suppose...

My Snoozie Selfie features ME resting My Head on one of My Our beautiful tapestry pillows. We found it difficult to make up Our Minds which of the many lovely LunaPic filters We tried was the most interesting, so here are five of the best. Feel free to choose for yourselves which is your favourite.

Furrst of all, We used the Harsh Lighting filter, as is, with no other additions:

Of course, Harsh Lighting is not exactly the best idea when a kitty is trying to snooze, so next, We tried Sketch2, at 80%:

For Our Third Attempt, We used Gorky, at 78%:

We don't think We've effur used that one before, though We might be mistaken. It has lovely autumnal colours, don't you think?  Not that there is any indication here in Jerusalem of the approach of that season...

Next up, here is an effect We are pretty sure We haven't used before - Dawn.

And last, but by no means least, a filter ideal for a snoozing kitty lost in a dream world. No, not Dreaming (got you there - MOL), but Floating, at 70%:

This last one is definitely the most colourful - and the filter is one of Our Perennial Favourites.

Before We set off on the bloggie hops, We want to apawlogise for sometimes missing some of your posts. For some reason, Mummy is no longer receiving EMail notifications of many of the blogs to which She subscribed. This is just one more in a long list of weird things that have been happening, both on Blogger and on Wordpress. Sometimes, Mummy does a Double Take and says to herself: "Goodness! I haven't seen So-and-So for ages!" and then She goes to look for them and discovers half a dozen posts for which She should have received notification, but didn't. But being a gazillion years old (sorry, Mummy), She doesn't always remember to go and look!

Trixie At the V-E-T's: Caturday Art and Sunday Selfies

Hallo there, Effurrybody!

How are you all? It has been furry, furry hot. We are used to it, here in Israel, but even here, the Weather Lady has warned that the Heat Load for the next few days will be "extreme" - even though the temperature (in Jerusalem, at least) will be "only" about 36 degrees Celsius. We have been hearing amazing and horrible stories from Europe about excessive heat, followed by flooding - and then MORE excessive heat!

Our A/C still hasn't been fixed, but We are managing, somehow.

Last Wednesday, Mummy hauled Me off to the V-e-t because something was badly irritating my right eye. Fortunately, Dr. Einat said it was nothing too serious, and  gave Mummy some eyedrops for Me (UGH!) which have to be administered twice a day. I think today is the last day, but, knowing Mummy, She will purrobably carry on an extra day because I managed to evade her ministrations a couple of times.

More impawtantly, for All of Us, while We were there, I overheard Mummy taking counsel with the V-E-T about what to do with Intruder Kitty Callicallou. Dr. Einat says that Mummy shouldn't let a new kitty into the house with Us, without furrst having her tested for FIV, FeLV and FIP - which is exactly what Mummy was thinking. So they started talking about how things could be arranged, like a military oppurration. The biggest problem is, one doesn't always get the results on the same day, so Mummy would have to find somewhere to keep the Intruder Kitty Callicallou, between having the tests and getting the (hopefully negative) results. Mummy is still trying to work that one out. Fortunately (says Mummy), we've still got a couple of months (at least) before the weather turns cold and rainy.

But even if all turns out well for Callicallou - what about ME? Mummy thinks it will be nice for Me to have another Ladycat to hang out with, but supposing She prefurrs the company of those pesky Mancats, my brofurs, and they all gang up on Me?

Oh, well - I won't think about that today. Instead, I shall concentrate on being the Star of the Weekend Blog Hops - the Caturday Art blog hop, hosted by the Wise and Beautiful Athena and her HuMum, Marie, and the Sunday Selfies blog hop, hosted by the Deliciously Unpredictable Kitties Blue and their HuMom, Janet.

Since both My Brofurs were so kind as to defurr to Me in honour of My Birthday, and Black Cat Appreciation Day, when it was their turn to repurresent the J-Cats in the Weekend Blog Hops, I shall now return the favour by including them this week. Here is an adorable picture of them attempting to put into practice what I have taught them about Feline Synchronisation Techniques. I fear that during the Pandemic and ensuing lockdowns, they became rather lazy and neglected their Training Sessions. I see I shall have to take them in paw once more!

Intruder Alert: Caturday Art and Sunday Selfies

Greetings, Effurryone!

Last week, We told you about the Intruder Kitty who has made herself at home on Our Front Porch. At furrst, We could not understand how she was getting in, as there is a fence and a gate - until Mummy saw her jump over the fence. It's hard to explain, unless you see it with your own eyes.

At all events, she comes and goes whenever she feels like it - and since she evidently finds one purrticular flower pot (a large, low, flat one) furry much to her liking (Mummy has several times found her curled up in it, or even stretched right across it), Mummy has had to bid a sad fur-well to the succulents that were planted there. Nor do the other cactuses - even the spikiest of them -  seem to bother this determined little calico kitty. Mummy has often found her resting in the shade behind the large flower pots, when She goes to put out food and water for her.

It is clear to Us that Intruder Kitty Callicallou is intent on taking up purrmanent residence here. Mummy has been giving the matter Furry Serious Thought. She has neffur adopted an adult kitty before (more about Callicallou's age in a minute) and She does not know how a kitty who grew up on the streets would react to becoming an Indoor Kitty, like Us. Also, She thinks maybe it would be nice for Trixie to have another girl kitty for company - but then, supposing they don't get on and Trixie finds herself left out, as she often does with her brofurs.

And then there are the Purr-acticalities.  Before adopting any new kitty, Mummy would have to have said kitty thoroughly checked by a v-e-t. She would then have to keep the new kitty in a separate room and slowly introduce her to Us. Under normal circumstances, She would use the Guest Room, but the Guest Room is currently occupied by Uncle D. who is here for an indefinite stay.

As to Callicallou's age - Mummy is almost certain that she is one of a litter of four born last year in the basement of Our Building to another calico kitty who is one of Mummy's "regulars". That would make her between a year to a year and a half old. Also, her left ear has been tipped, so Mummy is assuming Callicallou has already been TNR'd - which, of course, is a furry good thing.

Getting Ready For Black Cat Appreciation Day: Caturday Art and Sunday Selfies

Hallo there, Effurrybuddies!

It's Me, here - the Mighty Shimshon (Shimshi for short), bla bla bla, Master of the Queen's Mischiefs, etc. etc.

And speaking of the Queen, although this week it is MY turn to lead the J-Cats in the weekend blog hops, my Big Brofur Caspurr and I are going to defurr once again to Queen Trixie, because this Wednesday, August 17th, is Black Cat Appreciation Day and Trixie is, Most Indubitably, a Black Cat - as anyone can see:

Of course, since this will be Trixie's Third Week in a Row to be featured here, Caspurr and I are not going to remain completely invisible Ourselves (mol)!

As for the rest of This Week's Mews, Uncle D. is back in Israel and staying with Us again. We think the Intensive Conditioning Training We put him through last time he stayed with Us is still effective and he can still be considered, more or less, a Cat Purrson (mol).

There is one other matter and it is causing Us some concern. A little calico kitty, one of Mummy's Community Cat regulars, has taken to encamping on Our Front Porch and miaowing until Mummy comes out to feed her. Mummy has given her a name, as She tries to do with all her "regulars", but We are afraid that Callicallou will not be satisfied with merely being fed twice a day on the Porch. We know what a Sucker how soft-hearted Mummy is...

This is Caspurr the Snuggle-Bug speaking writing. Strictly speaking, it is My Turn to repurresent the J-Cats on this weekend's blog hops - the Caturday Art blog hop, hosted by the Wise and Beautiful Athena and her HuMum, Marie, and the Sunday Selfies blog hop, hosted by the Predictably Unpredictable Kitties Blue and their HuMom, Janet.

Athena's Mum is mourning the loss of her beloved brother, John. If you haven't already done so, do visit her and leave a few kind words.

As I said, it is actually My Turn to star in the blog hops this week, but since it will be Trixie's birthday this coming Furriday, the Glorious 12th, We are going to do things a bit differently.

We took Trixie's selfie from last week and we cropped it into a head-and-shoulders pawtrait.

As to Trixie's Birthday - well, you know Us well enough to guess that on Furriday, We shall be holding a Spectactularly Spiffing Pawty at 5pm Israel Time, up in the Enchanted Forest. It will, in fact, be a double celebration, because Furriday is the 15th of Av - Tu b'Av -  in the Mewish calendar. Think of it as something like the Mewish Valentine's Day. We look forward to seeing you all there!

We shall say nothing of the Evil Mutant Ninja Coronavirus this week. Frankly, We have other things to worry about. The Bad Humans in Gaza are shooting rockets at Us again. This morning, they fired some at Jerusalem (which is quite rare). We didn't hear any warning sirens, but Mummy heard two boomies which must have been the sound of the Iron Dome Air Defence System intercepting the rockets,  and then a couple of minutes later, they announced on the news what had happened. We hope this will all be over by Furriday, but at any rate, you need have no fears for your safety. The Enchanted Forest is completely safe and purr-tected, being - well, you know. Enchanted.
