Shabbat Treats

Greetings, Fellow Felines (and C-A-N-I-N-E-S and Humans too)!

It's still ever so hot, I have no energy for anything, but I make an effort now and then because I know my Human gets Really, Really Worried when I just flop down and don't move for hours. To tell the truth, Kitties, it is often an effort just to get up or, if I'm already up, to sit down. I'm waiting for her now, to come and take her Shabbat afternoon nap and then I can feel comfortable, knowing she is safely snuggled up beside me.

She gave me some extra culinary treats today. She let me lick out the last of the goats' milk cream cheese in the tub and just now, she let me lick out her dessert bowl. She said it was something called "ice cream"  and to hear her, you would have thought it was something really special. But I didn't care for it much, so I left it after only about three licks and demanded some proper food. That means Fancy Feasties, Fellow Felines (et al.) and this time, it was Tender Liver and Chicken - one of my favourites.

The Paparazzi have been very busy this past week, so Mummy and I had quite a hard time deciding which was the best picture of Moi to show you, but we eventually chose this one, because, as Mummy was quick to point out, it displays my beautiful pink and white toesies to best advantage.

I see Mummy is ready, at last, to take her nap, so I shall go and lie down next to her, so as to guard her and keep her safe from any possible Intruders. Have a lovely weekend, Fellow Felines (etc)!
But before I go, Mummy would like to invite your Human Mummies and Daddies to take a look at her own blog. She worked very hard on it and she thinks they would like it.

The Intruder

Greetings, Fellow Felines (and C-a-n-i-n-e-s amd Humans too)!

We had a nasty surprise the other evening.  My Human was reading in bed, quietly minding her own business, when I heard a slight click. Instantly on the alert, I bounded down from the bed and took up my position in the hall, before the front door. And then I saw it - a great, big, ugly, brown
c-o-c-k-r-o-a-c-h
scuttling out of the kitchen, across the hall and into the bedroom. Mummy looked up, saw it racing across the floor and started screaming. I know I should have deaded it, but, kitties - it was too quick for me. I'm not as young as I used to be and I can't run so fast now. However, My Human proved herself to be a Highly Efficient Assassin. That horrible Creepy Crawly ran under the bed - but then it turned and ran right out again and Mummy was ready and waiting for it with her shoe and she hit it and hit it, over and over again, till it was deaded and squashed into Mummy's nice, pink bedroom carpet. That was when She finally stopped screaming and said the "S" word (several times, in fact - MOL),  because it's not easy to clean bits of squashed roach out of a thick pile carpet!
That's the trouble with Humans - they have no patience. If Mummy had waited a minute, I would have arrived and pounced on it as it emerged from under the bed and I would have deaded it quickly and cleanly. As it was - Mummy had to get up and start trying to clean the carpet. And then she got out a big yellow spray can and sprayed evil-smelling gas all over the house, and that meant she had to move my food and water out of their usual place, so as not to poison me.  I hate it when things aren't where they're supposed to be!
So you see, Fellow Felines (et al.), it's been quite an exhausting week and I am very glad that it's Friday and tomorrow is Shabbat and Mummy will be home with me all day, and we can rest from our labours.

Shabbat Shalom to you all :-)

Possum the MagnifiCat.

It's Been a Hard Day's Night...

...and I've been working like a d-o-g!
Yes, I have! My Human keeps going out and leaving me on guard and although I have now been promoted to Captain of the Guard, and have delegated responsibility to the ladies of her porcelain doll collection, I still have to supervise them. You can't expect a China Doll to display the same level of alertness as a Fighting Feline, such as Moi!

What makes it especially hard is the heat. My Human says the temperature is above average for July. It makes Me so very, very sleepy.

So - I sleep with one eye open (most of the time) and allow myself a brief cat nap now and then:

However, at least we've now got rid of those horrid hornets and so we can have all the windows open again, to catch the slightest breeze.

Anyway, it's the Weekend at last, so I can have some time off from guard duty.
Mummy will be home with me all day and I will get extra Fancy Feast in honour of Shabbat   :-)

Have a lovely weekend, Fellow Felines (and C-a-n-i-n-e-s and Humans too)!

Snoozy Saturday

Greetings, Fellow Felines (and C-A-N-I-N-E-S and Humans too, of course)!

It's very, very. very HOT today! My Human says it will reach 36 degrees Celsius here in Jerusalem! I don't like that. There's no place to hide. Even with the air conditioning on, I just feel languid and sleepy. Fortunately, as it's the Weekend, She is home and so there's no need for Me to be on guard duty.

A propos guard duty, Fellow Felines (etc.) - I have recently been promoted. I am now Captain of the Guard, with the newly-created rank of Felinemarshall.
That is a Very High Rank indeed, my Human says. However, as I said, today I am Off Duty and can Chill Out (don't I just wish!).

This is Me attempting to do precisely that (and being purr-sued by the Paparazzi...)

Now, before I leave you and return to my well-earned rest, I would just like to suggest you read my Human's latest bloggie. It's got some very nice pictures :-)

Have a lovely weekend, one and all!

Duty Calls

Greetings, Fellow Felines (and C-a-n-i-n-e and Human Friends as well)!

I must say, we Felines have to work very hard during the week. Every time my Human goes out, she tells me to be a good Watch Kitty and to guard our home against intruders and tiggerize any unauthorised visitors to pieces. You would think that, knowing how bored I get being home all on my own, she would just let me curl up somewhere warm and sleep till she gets back, but no! First of all, she objects to me lying on something she calls a  d-i-g-i-t-a-l           c-o-n-v-e-r-t-e-rbecause she says my furs will get inside it and stop it working properly. How can I make her understand that it keeps my tummy nice and warm?

Look, here is a picture of me lying on it.

Then, just when I have got nice and comfortable, she kitnaps me and moves me somewhere else, like her bedroom. She tells me that if I'm cold, I can snuggle up under the duvet. But she's just told me to stay on guard and protect Our Home! How can I do that if I'm hiding under the duvet???

Okay, so to make her happy, I make like I'm on guard.

See. Here I am - on guard:

Of course, nobody could expect me to stay like that all day. A Feline (especially a Senior Feline, such as myself) needs his beauty sleep. I am always alert. The slightest hint of an alien presence in the house and I'm wide awake. Naturally, I am conscious of my Human's presence, so if she comes home and I fail to greet her at the door, it is only because I sense it is her and know that it's all right to go on snoozing. That's how She managed to sneak up on me with her flashy box and take this:

Naturally, I opened my eyes after that, just to show her how on the ball I am and that no-one can put one over on Me. But she didn't make any remarks about Sleeping on the Job. She only said how impossibly handsome I am. So I let her take one more picture, because although I am completely impervious to Flattery, I knew it would give Her pleasure to post this picture and show the Whole World how lucky she is that such a handsome mancat as I, has chosen her to be my Mummy.

P.S. I'm pretty lucky too, to have Her. I don't tell her that nearly as often as I should - just as I didn't tell Pixie often enough how much I loved her. But Pixie is an angel now, so she knows. And in future, I'm going to tell my Human every day how much I love her and what a wonderful Mummy she is. I've learned my lesson. We need to tell our Loved Ones how much we care for them right now and Every Day. Because if we put it off, we may wake up one day and find it's too late.
