All Sorts of Interesting and Impawtant News

Hallo again, Effurrybuddies!

It is Me here, the Mighty Shimshon (aka Shimshi, or The Little Purr-ince)!

Furrst of all, I want to remind you all that today is MY BIRTHDAY! Doesn't time fly? I am two years old today. But we aren't going to have my birthday pawty today. That is because my sisfur, Trixie, finally had her surgery last week, to fix her ladycat parts so she doesn't get those funny feelings she was telling you about, and she is still re-cu-purr-ating (goodness! what a long word!) so we have decided to postpone my party until after she has her stitches out (which will be next Sunday) and celebrate on my birthday according to the Hebrew calendar, during Chol Hamoed Pessach, on the 17th of Nissan. Funnily enough, that is the day after Mummy's Hebrew birthday, and falls next Monday, the day after Trixie has her stitches removed.

I am letting you all know now, so you will have plenty of time to clear your diaries and pre-purr for My Pawty. (Of course, a month after that, it will be time for my Gotcha Day Pawty, and We did consider merging the two but then We decided that there is no sense in skipping a purr-fectly good excuse to pawty! Two pawties are so much better than one, don't you agree?)

I have hardly seen Trixie since she had her surgery, because Mummy has put her in a Private Ward, with her own bathroom and dining room so that We Boys (as She calls Us) can't disturb her with our boisterous games! And Trixie has been getting extra Fancy Feast and treats, because, at furrst, She didn't feel like eating at all. But now, She's coming along nicely, Mummy says, and will no doubt tell you all about her expurriences herself, once her stitches are out and she can come out to play with Us Boys Mancats.

Now, I am going to go back and have a little nap till lunchtime. I hope to see you all at My Pawty next week.

'Bye for now.

PS. Trixie and Caspurr send their love.

Honouring Pixie

Hallo, Effuryone!

As we mentioned before, le quatorze juillet was Precious Pixie's birthday. If she had still been here, instead of having flown off to the Rainbow Bridge in December 2011, she would have been 18 years old today. Mummy gets leaky eyes whenever she thinks about her kitties who have gone to the Bridge, but She knows that She will meet them again some day, when it's her own turn to leave for the Bridge.

Mummy says that Princess Pixie shared her birthday with many, many people and kitties (and probably woofies too) in France who celebrate Bastille Day on this date. She says that in France, they don't talk about the Rainbow Bridge. Instead, they say that anipals who are called away by the Great Cat in the Sky, go to join Le Nuage des Animaux (that means "The Cloud of Animals"). Mummy says she learned about this from her friend Nath's website, Le Monde de Shahlimare. Mummy says that the Cloud and the Bridge are one and the same thing, really, because all the anipals go there and they live in peace with each other, even if their Humans came from countries that were at war with each other. Which just goes to show that animals have much more Common Sense than Humans, doesn't it, kitties?

Anyway, to get back to Sweet Pixie's birthday, we want to honour her memory by showing some of the most beautiful pictures of her from Mummy's collection.

And now, Pixie is an angel...

Wasn't Pixie beautiful? And it's true, I do look a lot like her, don't I? Well, except for being a Mancat, whereas Pixie was a beautiful Ladycat.

So here's to the memory of the lovely Tigger Princess PixieCato, who will neffur, effur be forgotten.

Remembering Possum

Hallo, Effurrybody!

Mummy is furry sad today. We saw water leaking out of her eyes. That's because today is the 4th of July and the 4th of July was Possum's birthday. He would have been 18 years old today, if he hadn't flown away to the Rainbow Bridge last October, to be with Pixie. We - that is, Caspurr and I - never knew Possum the MagnifiCat and Princess Pixie, but We know that Mummy loved them effur so much and We also know that it was Possum and Pixie who sent Us to Mummy and who whispered in her ear that it was time to open her door to Us. In ten days time, we will be remembering Pixie, on what would have been her birthday, but the 4th of July is Possum's special day, which is also celebrated by millions and millions of Americans. Just imagine having so many people celebrating your birthday with you! Possum is furry, furry famous - and justly so. Mummy says that I - Trixie - have inherited Possum's furriness and splendiferous tail, and Pixie's purr-sonality, whereas Caspurr is more like Possum in character, though he looks effur so much like Pixie.

Caspurr and I would like to honour Possum by showing some of the best pictures of him. Even though it will make Mummy's eyes leak some more, we believe she will be happy to know that his memory is cherished, by others, as well as by herself.

Friday the Fur-teenth

Greetings, Fellow Felines (and C-a-n-i-n-e-s and Humans too)!

It has been Very, Very, Very Hot all week and I am completely exhausticated! To make matters worse, my Human has been closing the bedroom window during the daytime, because we think there is a hornets' nest right outside it. We haven't actually seen the nest but we sure as *&^% have seen the hornets and they look really Big and Mean. My Human says she's going to have to get a Professional in to deal with the problem. In the meanwhile, we are having to rely on the air conditioning. But because of the extreme heat, everyone else is also leaving their air conditioning on and there have been power cuts all over the country.

Today is my human grandpa's birthday. He is 85 years old. Happy Birthday, Grandpa!!! Speaking of birthdays - thanks to all of you who came to celebrate My Birthday with Me last week. As I mentioned in my previous post, tomorrow would have been Pixie's birthday. I wonder if they celebrate birthdays at the Bridge. I don't suppose they do - because, after all, at the Bridge, nobody gets older, one stays fur-ever young.

The paparazzi were out in full force this past week, and because it was so hot, I didn't have the energy to run and hide from them. All I could do to foil their nefarious schemes was to turn my head just as the shutter clicked. I have a sixth sense which tells me exactly when to do that (heh-heh-heh). Still, even I get caught napping on occasion, as you can see:

Right, I have to go now, Fellow Felines (etc.) and help Mummy prepare tonight's supper. It's very hard work, kitties, having to watch her and supervise and make sure she prepares everything exactly as We like it.

Shabbat Shalom to you all! Have a lovely weekend.

Anticipation

Greetings, Fellow Felines (and C-A-N-I-N-E-S and Humans too)!

I just wanted to remind you all that next Wednesday, July 4th, is My Birthday! I will be 17 years young. My Human has been sorting our her old photos and she found some pictures of Me when I was a really tiny little kitten, which she would like to share with you all.

Here is the first - she thinks she took this one on the very day my human grandma and grandpa brought me to her. They thought I was a little girl kitty but my new Mummy took one look and set them right about that (MOL).

And here is another one from those very early days - Mummy says I always had "a bit of a tummy"...

And now comes one that makes me sad, Kitties - because it reminds me that this will be the first birthday I celebrate without Pixie being here to share it with me. Pixie would have celebrated her own 17th birthday ten days after mine, on July 14th - only the Great Cat in the Sky called her to Him and she flew away to the Bridge on December 23rd last year.

It looks like this was one of the few times Pixie got the upper hand over Me in a wrestling match. I don't remember that happening very often. I must have let her win...

Didn't we both have big ears? And eyes?

Anyway, what I wanted to say was, you are all invited to My Birthday Party. Wednesday evening at 6 p.m. Israel time...My Human has promised that besides Birthday Cake, there will be Fancy Feast in all my Favourite Flavours.
And maybe Smoked Salmon too  and possibly Anchovies...Oh, and of course, plenty of cottage cheese. I am very partial to cottage cheese. In fact, if you look closely on the first of the photos above, you might just be able to see some on my nose (MOL).
So don't forget! I'm looking forward to seeing you all and to opening .....

(Okay, okay, Mummy! I know it's Bad Form to ask for Presents.  I was not going to do that.

No, truly. I was not...)

As I was saying - See you all on Wednesday ;-)
