An Ussie for Rosh Hashana: Caturday Art and Sunday Selfies

Hallo again, Effurrybuddies!

This is going to be a furry short post, because tonight is the start of Rosh Hashana - the Mewish New Year - and Mummy needs her opposable thumbs to prepurr her part of the festive family meal, and can only put them at Our disposal for a furry short time. This time last year, if you recall, Mummy caught the Evil Mutant Ninja Coronavirus, which totally wrecked the plans for a Family Dinner! So We are anxious nothing should go wrong this time!

Last week, We said We weren't sure if We'd have time to post this week, but We really don't want to miss taking part in the weekend blog hops - the Caturday Art blog hop, hosted by the Wise and Beautiful Athena and her HuMum, Marie, and the Sunday Selfies blog hop, hosted by the Deliciously Unpredictable Kitties Blue and their HuMom, Janet.

So furrst of all, here is Our Sunday Snoozie -er - Selfie. Well, Ussie, if you want to be completely accurate:

And for the artsy-fartsy version, We have made a Rosh Hashana greeting card:

For those of you who don't understand Hebrew, Shana Tova (שנה טובה) means "a Good Year", which is what We wish you all. The apples and the honey and the pomegranates in the picture are traditional foods eaten on Rosh Hashana - apples and honey for a sweet year, and pomegranates, because they are said to have 613 seeds, corresponding with the 613 mitzvot (commandments) of the Torah.

Now it is time to add the blog hop badges:

And finally, We will wish you all לשנה טובה תיכתבו ותיחתמו - Leshana Tova Tikhatevu ve'Tihatemu - May you be inscribed and sealed for a Good Year.

Be well. Be safe. We love you all.

Caturday Art for Rosh Hashana - Happy Mew Year

Greetings, Effurrybody!

How the time flies! Summer has given way to autumn (not that you would have known it, going by the weather here, which is still bright and sunny and hovering around the upper 20s Celsius). Tomorrow night is already the start of the Jewish - Mewish New Year, Rosh Hashana!

That being the case, our entry in this week's Caturday Art blog hop, hosted by the wise and beautiful Athena and her HuMum, Marie, is, obviously, going to be a Rosh Hashana greeting card, featuring all the impawtant Rosh Hashana elements - the show-fur, and the paw-megranate, the apple and the honey.

Mummy made this card using our latest selfies, which she turned into a collage using HP Photo Creations, adding some clip art and text. Then she went over to LunaPic and got some more clip art (the fruit and the honeybee).

Purrsonally, We think the card would have been even better if She had added a border of catnip and fishies, and We did suggest this to her - but She couldn't find any.  Still, one can't have effurrything and as long as We have purr-lenty of gefilte fish and catnip soup for our festive evening meal (to which you are all invited, tomorrow at 7 pm, Israel time - in the Enchanted Forest, of course),  We don't mind that it's missing on the greeting card.  The impawtant thing is that it is not missing from the menu (mol).  Oh - and if you happen to know of any homeless kitties who have nowhere to go for the High Holy Days, bring them along. They will be most welcome to join Us for Our Festive Meal.

Now, as always, We want to wish you all Shavua Tov (a Good Week), but more than that, We want to wish you and your Humans - whether or not you, or they, are Mewish - a furry Happy and Sweet Mew Year. Shana Tova to you all, Dear Furriends. And let us purray that, in this coming year, all the homeless kitties will find their furever homes and may none of them go hungry or be unwanted or unloved, effur again.

Before We go, let's just add the badge:

And now - let's blog hop!

A Wonderful New Year

Greetings, Effurrybody!

This evening is the start of Rosh Hashana, which is the anni-furr-sery of when the Great Cat in the Sky created the World. That's like the World's Birthday! Just imagine - a birthday for the Whole World!

Of course, it would be a bit difficult to give the World a birthday present, so it's okay to give each other gifts instead. In fact, it's especially okay for Humans to give their furbabies prezzies (mol).

And just see what Mummy has given Us!

Isn't that the most beautiful Cat Tree you effur saw?

When Mummy first presented it to Us, last week, it had a white mousie attached to it on a stretchy, elastic string.

Only Shimshi stole it, of course, and wouldn't let anybody else touch it - as usual. And then, he lost it - again, as usual.

In fact, Shimshi seemed to think the new Tower was his own, purrsonal propurrty.

Mummy moved it into the boudoir, so that Trixie could explore it propurrly.

But She has since moved it back into the Guest Kitty Bedroom, as the Baby Mancat has finally figured out that it belongs to All Of Us, and that We have to share.

There is plenty of room there for all of Us. It has four floors, as you can see:

On the bottom floor is a Kitty Cave. On the next floor up, there is a round shelter which also does service as a swing. And on top of that, there are two more floors.
And it is covered and lined with lovely, soft faux fur, in a beautiful shade of fawn.
And it has not one, but three scratching posts, so all three of Us can use them at the same time.

We think it is beautiful, kitties. Don't you agree?
And We are furry grateful to Mummy for having bought Us such a beautiful (and expensive) present.

Now We would like to wish you all a furry happy New Year.

Shana Tova!

A Good Year

Greetings, Effurybody!

It's seems like it's been a zillion years since We last posted - even though there was a LOT to write about. For example, Mummy dragged Me (Queen Trixie) and my little brofur Shimshi off to the v-e-t last month - in the same paddy wagon, would you believe?!

In Shimshi's case, there was at least some excuse, because he had to have his annual shots. That's what Mummy calls it anyway, but We don't understand why they call it "shots" when actually, what the evil v-e-t does is to stab us!

Mummy's excuse for dragging Me off to Dr. Einat was, that She was worried about Me not eating enough. So Einat tried to steal some of my bloods, but I wouldn't let her. And instead of taking "No" for an answer, she stabbed Me and gave Me an evil drug to make me all woozy. In fact, it made Me fall asleep and while I was sleeping, she stole my bloods. And it was all for nothing, Kitties - because all the tests came back negative. There is nothing wrong with Me. Mummy just got into a Tizz because She's used to Caspurr and Shimshi scoffing down their food (and as much of mine as they can get) like hogs, whereas I prefer to eat slowly and elegantly, as befits a Ladycat, and thus preserve my beautiful, lithe, svelte figure!
I can do that, because Mummy has taken to shutting Me up in the guest room with my noms, so that I can eat in peace, without having my repast stolen by my Greedy Brofurs. But even so, I don't like to over-eat, and there is often food left over for the Mancats.

While Shimshi and I were at the evil v-e-t's, Caspurr was left on guard, to keep our home safe from Intruders.

Last week, Mummy entertained her human family for Rosh Hashana (that's our New Year). Twelve intruders joined Us for supper. That's Grandpa and Step-Grandma and Step-Great-Grandma and Mummy's sisters and their mates and kittens too!

One of Mummy's nieces has something called a-s-t-h-m-a and it's brought on by an allergy to kitties! She loves kitties, but whenever she comes near Us, her eyes start to water and she starts getting an attack. So we have to be shut away in the bedroom when the Human Family comes over. But the human kittens always beg Mummy to let Us out, because they love Us so much.

Tomorrow, the Humans have another Special Day called Yom Kippur. That is the day when the Great Cat in the Sky judges effurryone - Cats, Other Animals, and Humans too - and decides what will be their fate during the coming year. And We are all supposed to fur-give each other and say how sorry we are for the bad things we have done during the year. So Caspurr and Shimshi and I (Queen Trixie) want to say to you all, that if We have hurt or offended anyone over the past year, We are furry, furry sorry and we ask you to furr-give Us.

And, although it's a few days late, We want to wish you all Shana Tova (שנה טובה - a Good Year).

The Unkindest Cut Of All

Hallo, Effurrybody!

Trixie here. I have been off my food lately and Mummy was terribly worried. On Sunday, She carted Me off to the v-e-t, who stole some of my blood and sent it away to be tested.

On Monday, the nice lady v-e-t phoned Mummy to tell her my blood tests were all okay, there was nothing serious, but I might have worms. But I could have told her what the real problem was - Caspurr, who has become so big and boisterous, I can hardly beat him in a fight anymore. He climbs up to all sorts of places he shouldn't be - like the top of the bathroom door. Look!

He hasn't left Me a single place I can call my own, he eats My Food and, worst of all, he thinks that, as a Mancat, he should be the Boss - and he keeps jumping on Me and trying to do Things to Me that I do not want him to do!

So yesterday (Tuesday), Mummy took him to the vet and left him there for a few hours. And she moved all My Things into her bedroom and turned it into a boudoir. She says that it's for Us Girls only.

When Mummy brought Caspurr home, he was very sleepy and even when he was awake, he was much quieter than usual. Today, he's a bit more himself, but I could sense something different, I hissed at him and it seemed to scare him off. I haven't been able to do that for a long time.

********

Caspurr here, Effurryone.

I should jolly well think something was different. I can hardly bring myself to talk about it.

You know how Good I have always been about going to the v-e-t. Well, yesterday, I saw Mummy had taken out My Travelling Carriage, so I just walked inside, all Unsuspecting and let her close the door on Me. And she called a taxi and took Me to the v-e-t.

I figured - what's the worst that can happen? The v-e-t will stab Me with a big needle, she'll steal some of my blood for her tests, she'll flash a big light in my eyes (which really had been bothering Me) - the usual kind of thing.
But you know what happened, kitties?  She gave Me an Evil Drug to make Me fall asleep. I don't know how long I was asleep, kitties, but when I woke up - I saw what she had done. Oh, the humiliation of it!

I don't know how to tell you!

She stole My Mancat Parts!!!!!

There, I said it!

What does she need Mancat Parts for? She's not a Cat. She isn't even a HuMan!

How am I ever going to be able to hold my tail erect again, kitties? What ladycat is going to want to look at Me now?

I don't understand why Mummy would let her do this to Me? Am I being punished for something? I don't know what I did wrong. What did I do to deserve this?

And now Trixie thinks she can be the Alpha Kitty again! I just know she's gloating!

********

It's the Two of Us now! Mummy says, this evening is the start of Rosh Hashana, the Jewish New Year and that we kitties must forgive each other and make up and be Furr-iends again. And We must each respect the Other's right to their Own Space.  So now, We are off to play together nicely with our Toys and then have a lovely Snooze, while Mummy makes a Huge Fruit Salad for the Festive Meal with her Human Family tonight.

Oh, and we wish all our Anipals, and their Human Mummies and Daddies a Very Happy New Year - Shana Tova!

I'm a Pro-Choice, Right to Life Kitty!

Greetings, Fellow Felines (and C-A-N-I-N-E-S and Humans too)!

It's hard to believe how Wicked some people can be! My Human tells me that in the parking lot and the small grove of trees near her office, there is a whole tribe of Pussycats, and that there are some very nice people who work in the building, who feed them twice a day and give them fresh water. In fact, those kitties are very well fed - except, of course, when there is a long weekend, like this last weekend, which lasted five whole days because of Rosh Hashana. So, of course, the Good People put out extra food and water for the Pussycats, to tide them over the festival. But a Very Wicked Human has been poisoning the Poor Pussycats by putting GLUE in their food and over the long weekend, another little ginger kitty was MURDERED in this way.
This makes me Very Very Sad - and also Very Very Angry. I hope the Evil People who did this will be caught and severely punished - just as I hope the Good People who make it their daily business to feed those homeless kitties and provide them with fresh water are rewarded by the Great Cat in the Sky! Every Kitty has a Right to Life!

Now, as to myself - I find the new, moist, dietary food, C/D, purr-fectly acceptable. In fact, some days, I even enjoy it more than Fancy Feast. Mummy has just taken delivery of two dozen more cans (and they're quite pricey, not to mention she had to pay for special delivery- that's how much she loves Me, there's nothing she won't do for Me). At first, she tried mixing it in with the cardboard that passes for dry dietary food that she's been feeding Me till now. But I just picked out the moist food and left the rest. Then she tried giving Me mostly C/D, with some of the dry dietary food mixed in. That worked at first - until I realised how easy it was to ignore the cardboard. I don't say I will purr-manently boycott the dry food, but I can take it or leave it. Some days I take it - but mostly, I leave it! (MOL)  Also, she understands, at last, that if I get the same thing every day, I get bored - even with C/D. So now she sets out a tray for me, with two food bowls. One has C/D with a little dry dietary food mixed in and one has the dry food flavoured with a little Fancy Feast. And because today is Erev Shabbat and tomorrow is Shabbat, she also gave me some pure Fancy Feast, with the promise of more later on. That way, I can choose what I feel like eating at any given moment.

I approve of that - I am a Pro-Choice Pussycat.

Shabbat Shalom to you all!

Possum the MagnifiCat

Shana Tova

Greetings, Fellow Felines (and C-A-N-I-N-E-S and Humans as well)!

In just a few short hours, our Human families will be celebrating Rosh Hashana, the Jewish New Year. I am very lucky to able to celebrate yet another New Year with Mummy - it's not every kitty that gets to be seventeen years young. I don't know how many more years we shall have together; when one gets to be such a very senior kitty, one just has to take whatever time the Great Cat in the Sky grants us, and be grateful for the time we have had. If I sound a little anxious, Fellow Felines (etc.), it's because of late, my Human has been looking at me with a very worried expression , and often, when I am trying to nap, I can feel her watching me as if she's afraid I won't wake up again.
I must admit that I've had very little appetite of late, and at the same time, I've been very thirsty and drinking more than usual - and I don't seem to have the energy to do much more than sleep. Mummy got so worried that last week, she kit-napped Me and took me to That Place. My regular doctor, Dr. Adrian wasn't there; instead, there was a new one called Dr. Oran, whom I've never seen before. He tried to take blood and urine samples from me, but I wouldn't let him. So he said he would have to sedate Me. Mummy was afraid to let him try because that's always more risky for Senior Felines such as Myself, so instead, she made another appointment for Me today, when Dr. Adrian was there. I didn't want to get into the cage so She threw a towel over Me and bundled me into it. I hated that - but when we got there, Dr. Adrian managed to do the tests without sedating Me. He said my urine was like water, and that's a sign my kidneys aren't working. But the blood tests showed just the opposite, that they are working okay - and the doctor said that's what counts. But he was a little concerned that I'm eating so little; he said I should be eating twice as much as I do - and he gave Mummy a new kind of Food called C-D (which I liked, but possibly that was just the novelty). He also said I could eat what I like - even Fancy Feast. Anyway, Dr. Adrian said that I wasn't going to die of Kidney Disease. Mummy and I were very relieved - but we can both read between the lines and We know he meant that it would be Old Age that gets Me in the end. But I hope that won't happen just yet, kitties.  :-)

Now, Fellow Felines - and all you other Four Legged and Two Legged Friends - I want to talk to you about something Very, Very Impawtant!
We have just learned of a Terrible Crime being carried out against innocent kitties and woofies, by Shark Fisherman! These Wicked People use live kitties and woofies as Bait!!! Can you imagine that?????
Mummy said they should take these people and use them as bait instead. Oh, she was Very Angry! And she wants you all to sign this PET-ition to make sure that anyone who commits such a Crime is severely punished. I also urge you all to sign and to get your Humans to sign too. Together, we can make a difference.

That's all for now, everyone. Shana Tova - a Happy New Year.
