A New Week

Hallo, Effurrybody!

We were rather lazy last week and didn't post a blog on Fur-riday. Well, it wasn't really Us being lazy. Our Human was too "busy" to help us and, as you all know, it's hard for Us to type with our lovely, long sabre-like claws. So we contented Ourselves with wreaking Havoc everywhere until our Human got mad again and said that She really needs to buy a Much Larger House, where each of Us can have our own room. That would be really great, kitties - only she's been talking about getting a New Place for - oh, forever!

Now, why was She so busy, kitties? Well, she had one of her sisters round for supper and she cooked a lovely meal - there was chick-hen soup and roast chick-hen with roast potatoes and yams, all cooked in red wine. And lots of different salads (not that we kitties are interested in salads, of course). And I (Trixie) came and sniffed round this sister's handbag and was generally friendly, but Caspurr was a Scaredy Cat and was afraid to come near her! Wasn't that strange, kitties? Caspurr is never scared!

Caspurr here. I was NOT scared. I was cautious. I was standing back ready to pounce, in case the Unknown Sister should attack Mummy. If that were to happen, I would be better positioned to defend her!

Oh, well, if that is your story (mol). Anyway, to continue. Mummy didn't take many pictures of Us this past week, and, in fact, she hardly had the computer thingy on at all. Instead, she did a lot of reading (she finished one book and got through TWO more. But the pictures that she did take display our beauty to purr-fection, don't you all agree?

In the picture above, you can see how Caspurr was inspired by a picture of Pixie that he found in one of Mummy's Photo Albums.

And this is Trixie, after I (Caspurr) have just woken her from her beauty sleep by grabbing her tail (mol).

That's all for now, kitties, woofies and two-legged pals!

Have a Great New Week!

A Home for MJ

Hallo, Effurrybody!

This is a special, emergency post for a sweet little black panfur kitty called MJ, who is desperately looking for a fur-ever home. Poor MJ really has the cards stacked against her. First of all, she is a black panfur kitty - like Trixie - and for some reason, black kitties have the hardest time finding fur-ever homes. And, as if that wasn't bad enough, now she has been diagnosed with feline diabetes, so she needs a human pawrent with the kind of lifestyle which will allow him or her to give MJ the regular medications and feeding times that she needs to cope with her illness. If you can help - or know someone who can - here is the link

Even if you don't think you can help, please share the link. Maybe someone will read about MJ who can help.

That's all for now. Shabbat Shalom to you all.

The Eyes of Trixie Panfur

Hallo, Effurrybody!

Trixie here! I just wanted to tell you all, my Eye is much, much better! Mummy took Me back to the v-e-t yesterday and the v-e-t said the ulcer had closed up and Mummy could reduce my medications. Now she just has to give Me one kind of eye-drops, twice a day and the ointment three times a day until Sunday. The v-e-t said that usually, kitties have to come back several times before the eyes even start getting better, but I was furry lucky, because my Human was effur so observant and noticed the problem within the first few hours, so we started treatment really, really soon, before contamination could set in.

It's such a relief no longer to be grabbed and tortured eleven times a day, and that I no longer have to take the second kind of drops, because they used to sting when they first went in. The other kind of drops aren't so bad and the ointment is really quite soothing.

But I have to tell you, kitties - you would have thought Caspurr had learned his lesson and would stop pestering Me all the time and being such a little Terrorist, but no! He still keeps creeping up behind Me and jumping on Me when I want to have a nap. And worse - today, he jumped out of Mummy's arms really suddenly, propelling himself with an open-clawed backward kick that left an inch-long scratch on Mummy's tummy!! And then he completely destroyed the last of Mummy's mosquito screens that was still functional! Caspurr is an Al-Quaeda Kitty, Mummy says...

Well, that's all for now. Shabbat Shalom from Me and the Al-Qaeda Kitty (mol).

The Tribulations of Trixie

Hallo, Effurryone!

It's Me again - Caspurr Kitty! Trixie says I should have explained why it was Me rather than her who wrote the Memorial Blog for Pixie.  I should have told you all that, this morning, Mummy noticed that Trixie's right eye was completely closed so she decided to take her to the v-e-t.

Naturally, as soon as Mummy called a taxi, Trixie opened her eye. Mummy wasn't sure then whether to take her to the v-e-t or not. When She first noticed the closed eye, Mummy thought there was some kind of pus leaking from it, but then She decided it was just tears and She thought maybe Trixie had something in her eye. Then, when Trixie opened her eye, it seemed okay. But Mummy decided not to take any chances and She took Trixie to Dr. Einat (that's the nice lady v-e-t) anyway. And the v-e-t took one look at Trixie (whose eyes were both open by then) and said: "She has something wrong with her right eye." Trixie said that Dr. Einat put something in her eye to make the injury show up a different colour (Mummy says that's called a "diagnostic stain") and then she called her assistant over to take a look. And she said that Trixie had an ulcer, probably caused by a scratch - and that it's lucky Mummy brought her in right away instead of waiting another day, because we've caught it really early. In fact, she said she couldn't recall another such case where a kitty with a corneal ulcer had been brought in for treatment at such an early stage. She said to Mummy "kol hakavod" (that's like - "Jolly well done!") for spotting it and bringing Trixie in so promptly - because, if she'd waited another day, it would have been much more complicated to treat the ulcer. Mummy was so frightened. She was afraid Trixie was going to lose an eye! Even now, she's scared the v-e-t isn't telling her everything, so as not to worry her.

Anyway, to cut a long story short, Dr. Einat prescribed THREE different medications for Trixie - one ointment and two different kinds of drops. The ointment has to be applied four times a day, one kind of drops has to be administered twice a day and the other, five times a day! Mummy drew up a table with lines and columns, so she can write down what she's given Trixie and when. Otherwise, she says, she's likely to get mixed up.

Trixie isn't nearly as good about taking her medications as I was, when I had to have eye drops, and medicine for ringworm. Mummy is just about managing to give her the eye drops but it's furry, furry hard to administer the ointment, she says.

The terrible thing is, kitties, I'm so afraid it might be my fault that Trixie's got an ulcer in her eye. I might have accidentally scratched her eye while we were wrestling. I do get a bit carried away at times. Mummy is always warning us to be careful, otherwise one of us would have the other's eye out. I feel so bad, kitties. Just supposing Trixie's eye doesn't get better and she loses it because of Me. I would neffur be able to forgive myself...

Honouring Pixie

Hallo, Effuryone!

As we mentioned before, le quatorze juillet was Precious Pixie's birthday. If she had still been here, instead of having flown off to the Rainbow Bridge in December 2011, she would have been 18 years old today. Mummy gets leaky eyes whenever she thinks about her kitties who have gone to the Bridge, but She knows that She will meet them again some day, when it's her own turn to leave for the Bridge.

Mummy says that Princess Pixie shared her birthday with many, many people and kitties (and probably woofies too) in France who celebrate Bastille Day on this date. She says that in France, they don't talk about the Rainbow Bridge. Instead, they say that anipals who are called away by the Great Cat in the Sky, go to join Le Nuage des Animaux (that means "The Cloud of Animals"). Mummy says she learned about this from her friend Nath's website, Le Monde de Shahlimare. Mummy says that the Cloud and the Bridge are one and the same thing, really, because all the anipals go there and they live in peace with each other, even if their Humans came from countries that were at war with each other. Which just goes to show that animals have much more Common Sense than Humans, doesn't it, kitties?

Anyway, to get back to Sweet Pixie's birthday, we want to honour her memory by showing some of the most beautiful pictures of her from Mummy's collection.

And now, Pixie is an angel...

Wasn't Pixie beautiful? And it's true, I do look a lot like her, don't I? Well, except for being a Mancat, whereas Pixie was a beautiful Ladycat.

So here's to the memory of the lovely Tigger Princess PixieCato, who will neffur, effur be forgotten.

Kitties in the Doghouse

Hallo, Effurryone!

We are hanging our heads in shame, kitties (as if.....MOL).

The truth is, We are in disgrace. Our Human was terribly upset. She said We are little Bandits. No - "Terrorists" was the word She used! She said she should call us "Hizbollah Cats", rather than "J-Cats". That's a very unkind thing to say, don't you agree, kitties? I mean - it isn't as if We deliberately set out to break the leg of her porcelain ballerina doll. I say "We", but it was really Trixie's fault, she swished her mighty tail and knocked Marie (that's the dolly's name) off her perch. But she didn't mean to do it. I mean, anyone can have an accident, can't they?

Caspurr the Tigger Kitty

Hallo, Effurrybody!

Trixie here. I just want to make it clear, it was not my fault! Caspurr was entirely to blame! If he hadn't kept pestering Me and chasing Me, it would never have happened. And anyway, it was he who knocked Marie Dolly down and broke her leg.  Because of him, Mummy got really MAD and threatened to throw Us away!!!

I know, it's hard to believe She could have said anything so hurtful, isn't it?! Of course, she regretted her hasty words almost immediately and begged for forgiveness - which, after Due Consideration, we decided to grant Her.

But there are Consequences, kitties. She follows Us about all over the place now, to make sure We aren't causing any more damage. It's Humiliating! One would think we were Criminals! Now, Caspurr may deserve that, but I certainly don't. When I'm not being pestered by a Little Brofur who always wants to prove he is better than Me at wrestling, I am effur so Good. In fact, my Goodness shines out of Me.You can see, at a glance, how furry, furry Good I am, can't you?

Trixie the Black Panfur

Well, that's all for now, Kitties! Bye for now, from the two of us.
Have a lovely Weekend - Shabbat Shalom.

Remembering Possum

Hallo, Effurrybody!

Mummy is furry sad today. We saw water leaking out of her eyes. That's because today is the 4th of July and the 4th of July was Possum's birthday. He would have been 18 years old today, if he hadn't flown away to the Rainbow Bridge last October, to be with Pixie. We - that is, Caspurr and I - never knew Possum the MagnifiCat and Princess Pixie, but We know that Mummy loved them effur so much and We also know that it was Possum and Pixie who sent Us to Mummy and who whispered in her ear that it was time to open her door to Us. In ten days time, we will be remembering Pixie, on what would have been her birthday, but the 4th of July is Possum's special day, which is also celebrated by millions and millions of Americans. Just imagine having so many people celebrating your birthday with you! Possum is furry, furry famous - and justly so. Mummy says that I - Trixie - have inherited Possum's furriness and splendiferous tail, and Pixie's purr-sonality, whereas Caspurr is more like Possum in character, though he looks effur so much like Pixie.

Caspurr and I would like to honour Possum by showing some of the best pictures of him. Even though it will make Mummy's eyes leak some more, we believe she will be happy to know that his memory is cherished, by others, as well as by herself.
