Hallo again, Effurryone and Shavua Tov (a Good Week)!
Last week, We told you Mummy had a special purroject for her Caterwauling Club. Today, We can reveal the details.
You might remember Us mentioning that, since She and her Fellow Caterwaulers can only meet via Zoom, due to the current Social Distancing Regulations, and that, because there is a limit to the nature and quality of actual rehearsals you can do on Zoom, they decided (so as not to let things get boring) that one meeting a week would be devoted to lectures on various Mewsical subjects. At some point, Mummy suggested that instead of leaving all the work to the Mewsical Director, others might like to take turns in giving one of these lectures. Having coming up with the idea, when the Mewsical Director asked if anyone would like to volunteer, Mummy felt that noblesse oblige and that She should pick up the gauntlet. So She offered to give a short talk on Bagpipe Mewsic. The "short talk" turned into a 90-minute lecture and Mummy felt She could easily have talked for a further 90 minutes.
Kitties, did you know that some people "joke" about Bagpipe Mewsic and compare it to the sound of a dying Cat?!
As if the sound of a Cat dying was anything to joke about!!!
Mummy agrees with Us that it sounds nothing like - though She did say it was not dissimilar, sometimes, to the sound of a Cat out courting (mol). Anyway, Mummy loves the sound of the Pipes - and She also learned a lot, whilst researching and prepurring her talk. For example, effurrybody immediately thinks of Scotland when they think of bagpipes, but did you know that many other countries also have a bagpipe tradition and that there are also different kinds of bagpipes - from western Europe (Asturia, Galicia, Brittany) throughout the Balkans, the Mediterranean basin and North Africa (Malta, Libya) Asia Minor (Turkey), all the way to Russia, the Caucasus (Azerbaijan) and Iran?
Like Mummy, however, We like the Great Highland Bagpipe best.
In other Mews - here in Israel, anyone over the age of 16 can now get vaccinated against the Evil Coronavirus (although it's proving a bit of a job to purr-suade younger people that it is at all necessary).
How is it going in YOUR neck of the woods?
Now, it is time for Us (by which I mean ME, Caspurr, King of the Tigger-Tabbies) to join the Caturday Art blog hop hosted by the Wise and Beautiful Athena and her HuMum, Marie, and the Sunday Selfies blog hop hosted by the delightfully unpredictable Kitties Blue and their HuMom, Janet.
In honour of Valentine's Day which falls today, I have instructed My Staff to ensure that my pawtrait is suitably embellished with appropriate symbols:
And here is the Magnificent Original:
And here is a Puzzle!
Last - but not least - here are the Blog Hop Badges:
Be safe. Be well. We love you all.

That's a fabulous selfie and art too! I'll bet the musical director was happy for a break and hooray for your Mom for leading the event! Happy Valentine's Day from all of us!
Concats to your mom on her presentation. π The biped does enjoy the bagpipes, though admittedly in moderation. π
Your selfie is purrfect for Valentine's Day, and we wish you all a lovely Sunday. π
My dear dear Caspurr! You are looking magnificent today and the symbols embellishing your portrait do appropriate justice to you. Enjoyed hearing about what thew Caterwauling Club did and Mom kinda enjoys the bagpipe sound too! But the Scottish ones. She admits to learning today thanks to you, that other Countries also have had a go at making unique sounds like that. MOL.
What a beautiful work of art you are Caspurr!
Mum likes bagpipe music but she always thought it was Scottish!
Lovely art x
WOW! What a great lecture that would be! Mom would have loved to hear it, she loves the pipes. One summer she worked in the Scottish House in Banff. Part of her job was to go with the piper to pipe the flag down at the Banff Springs Hotel. Boy did she learn a lot about pipes.
Vaccinations are slow here in Canada. Mom most likely wont get hers until August.
Your Valentine is gorgeous, you guys are AWESOME! Have a happy day!
That's so cool that Mummy gave that talk about bagpipe music!
We love your Valentine's Day art, Caspurr. And the original picture, too.
Most of our friends in Israel already got their second vaccine shots -- so awesome!
Happy Valentine's Day, sweet pals!
That is a lovely selfie and art, and thanks for the puzzle.
All of the higher risk groups have been done now and they are starting on the over 65s. I am hoping to book our injections tomorrow.
Happy Valentine's Day to all of you!
I forgot to say that sounded like a great lecture that your mum gave. I like bagpipes and we heard them a lot when we went on a road trip around Ireland.
Dad introduced us to Bagpipes and we really love hearing that magical instrument! That clip was amazing as was your very nice Valentine Art Caspurr
SO cute! Wishing you a purrfect Valentine's Day!
What a pawsome selfie, Caspurr. It made for some great artwork too. I don't think bagpipe music sounds like a cat at all! Happy Valentine's Day! ~Ernie
That was nice of your mom to give a lecture. You are so adorable, I love the selfie and the art. Thank you for the puzzle too.
My state is still working on vaccines for people 75 and over. Happy Valentine's Day! XO
That's a beautiful picture with this tool ! Here life is boring, lockdown !
Who is the pawcelain doll in the bed?
Lottie.
Being a Canadian means that *she* is very familiar with those Scottish bagpipes! Almost every parade had lots of them...and she has watched lots of dancing competitions where the participants were dancing to the live music on bagpipes. And she even knew that bagpipes originated somewhere in the area you mentioned. They are not the easiest instrument to learn to play, its all in the breathing technique, right? Fill up the bag and let it push the music out...just keep on filling the bag. LOL!
Petcretary and pawppy have both had the full vaccines of two shots, so we are glad they are now 'purr-tected'...the unfurs will get theirs when they become available for younger peeps.
Nice Valentine's picture, Caspurr! And thanks for the puzzle! *She* enjoys doing them:)
