Festivals, Birthdays and Anniversaries

Hallo, Effurybody!

What a busy time it has been this past fortnight! Furrst of all, there was Pessach. We had to snoopervise all Mummy's Pessach cleaning, and shopping - especially when She decided to get some treats for Herself!

Then, on Chol Hamoed Pessach, Mummy had her Hebrew birthday and two days later, on April 8th, it was her birthday according to the Civil Calendar. So She got two birthdays in the same week! But She doesn't get to have a Gotcha Day like We do (although, in a way, She, too, was Gotcha-ed). And talking of Gotcha Days, yesterday, April 11th, was Caspurr's. It's exactly two years since he and Mummy decided they were made for each other - and I, Trixie, finally got the Little Brofur I had been waiting for!
We didn't have a Pawty (I'll explain why in a minute) but he did get to choose what We would watch on the Big Screen:

Now, the reason there was no Pawty was that this coming Furr-iday, April 17th, is Shimshi's Birthday! He will be exactly One Year Old. So, we have decided to have a Joint Pawty for the two of them - Shimshi's Coming-of-Age and Caspurr's Gotcha Day Pawty.

But since Mummy is now a few hundred years old, by Our Reckoning, and her Human Family are having a "Surprise" Birthday Pawty for Her that day and since We need Her help to prepare Our Pawty really, really want Her to come to Our Pawty, We are going to have Caspurr and Shimshi's Pawty the following day, on Shabbat afternoon - and, of course, you are all invited.

We shall have it at 6 pm, so you can all enjoy the beautiful sunset.

I suppose it will be a lot of work for Me to pre-purr, but being an Alpha-Kitty Extraordinaire does carry with it certain obligations.

Noblesse Oblige, as they say.

So that's it for now. We are looking forward to seeing you all on Shabbat afternoon.

Have a Good Week!

A Fun-Filled Weekend

Hallo again, Effurryone!

It is I, Caspurr the Tigger-Tabby King!
I am completely exhausticated by all the festivities we've been having over the past few days!

Furrst of all, there was Purr-im. Mummy made Us dress up in these silly hats for the Purr-im Pawty. Trixie said She didn't see what I was getting so uptight about, nobody minds being a little undignified on Purr-im. You are supposed to dress up in funny costumes and take part in the miaowsquerade, and even get a little tipsy.

It's all very well for Her to talk. She got to wear an elegant hat and look even more ladycatlike than usual!

And even Shimshi didn't look too silly, in his Cossack hat:

But the hat Mummy picked out for Me was not one that a self-respecting Mancat would agree to wear. The fact that I did so can point to only one thing:

I must have had a couple of niptinis too many!
Either that, or somebody (I shall name no names) spiked my Silvervine Cocktail (mol).

No sooner was Purr-im over, then it was My Birthday!
Yes, kitties! On Shabbat, I was Two Years Old.

I had Salmon and Shrimp Fancy Feast for lunch and I also received this nice Mousie as a Birthday Prezzie from Mummy.

Of course, no sooner had Mummy given it to Me, than Shimshi tried to steal it! So Mummy had no choice but to put Me and My New Mousie in the Boudoir (much to Trixie's annoyance) and to shut Shimshi out. He wasn't best pleased with that, but at least I got to play with My Prezzie and make sure it was thoroughly imbued with My Own Scent.

Instead of having another Pawty, We decided to go out to a nightclub to celebrate. I pointed out that this might be a bit of a problem, what with Shimshi being underage and all that, but Trixie said She had a furr-iend who could fix him up with a fake ID.

Our furrst stop was Kitty's Cave, but Trixie decided the floor show there was rather too risqué for Shimshi's baby eyes.  It's true that the Chorus Kitties there are Real Hot Numbers and it was My Birthday, after all, but We do have a responsibility to our little brofur, so We left and went to the Pussycat Parlour, where they prepare the best Catmint Juleps in town - and the food is good too. Their floor show isn't bad either - and I have a Date with their Star, the beauteous Miss Pussy Galorious, later this week. (Purrs).

All in all, it's been a Pretty Good Week - with the Promise of an even better one to come (mol).

The Storm of the Century

Hallo, Effurrybody!

It is I, Queen Trixie, Alpha-Kitty Extraordinaire!

Last week, for the third or fourth time in My Life (which has, so far, lasted all of two and a half years), We had a storm of the kind which, according to the Human Weather Forecaster, we witness "only once in a Century".

Mummy had the heating on all day and my brofurs and I sat by the windows and watched the pretty white snowflakes falling.

And Mummy played with Us and threw Ping Pong Balls around for Us to chase.

But best of all, once the snow had stopped falling and the sun came out, She let Us out of the flat onto the entrance porch, to have an up close and purr-sonal look at the snow.

Caspurr didn't like it furry much. He was more interested in the possibility of munching on the flowers. I, purr-sonally, can take it or leave it. Mostly leave it (mol). We all decided it was better indoors, where we could stretch out on one of the radiators. But I was not pleased when Shimshi decided to steal my favourite radiator perch!!!

That Baby Mancat has waaaaaaay too much Chutzpah for my liking!
Wouldn't you agree?

The Continuing Ordeal of Shimshi

Hallo again, Effurrybuddies!

It seems there is no end to the Trauma and Humiliation that a Human can inflict on a Poor, Innocent, Unsuspecting Kitty!

You wouldn't believe what Mummy did to Me the other day!

On Thursday morning, She scooped Me up and put me in my Travelling Cage and locked the door. Then She told Me not to worry about anything, She was taking Me to be "fixed".

I was furry confused, kitties! I tried to explain that there wasn't any need to fix Me, nothing was broken, effurrything was in purr-fect working order. But She just didn't listen. And then, Caspurr came in and told Me what Mummy meant.

At furrst, I didn't believe him. But then he explained that he, too, had been "fixed". So when Mummy got Me to the Evil V-e-t's clinic, I absolutely refused to emerge from my cage and when Mummy tried to get Me out, I scratched Her. And I hissed and spat and wouldn't let anyone near Me. So the Evil V-e-t brought a special cage with moving walls and they tipped Me into it and squeezed Me against one of the sides and stabbed Me with a horrid, sharp needle. Mummy said She would stay with Me till I went to sleep, but I wouldn't go to sleep. I fought against it. After a few minutes, when the v-e-t  saw that I was still awake, she stabbed Me again!!! And this time, the Evil Drug they gave Me was too strong for Me and I drifted off, and the next thing I knew, I was lying in my own cage, feeling really sick and groggy. But as soon as I could, I took a peek to see if what Caspurr had told Me was true, and oh! Kitties! - It was!!!

My Mancat Parts had been stolen!!!

In the afternoon, Mummy came back to collect Me and take Me home and She put Me in the Guest Kitty Room on my own, with food and water and a litter box, and closed the door so that Trixie and Caspurr couldn't bother Me, because I was still feeling a bit weak and groggy from the after-effects of the Evil Drug that the v-e-t gave Me to make Me fall asleep. She kept checking up on Me every half an hour or so. She got worried because I vomited all my food and phoned the Evil V-e-t, Dr. Einat, but Einat said this was normal.

I don't understand why Mummy would let them do this to Me. I did overhear Her telling the v-e-t I had become furry aggressive of late, and peed on her dressing-gown.  Is it maybe a punishment?

Caspurr says I'll get over it, the way he did and will be as right as rain (what's so right about rain, anyway?).

Mummy bought Us some extra treats but I'm not sure that even three new nip-mousies can make up for such an assault upon My Purr-son!

Our Wonderful Weekend

Hallo there, Effurryone!

It is I, Caspurr the Tigger Tabby.
We had a furry pleasant weekend, doing nothing much but snuggling up to Mummy while She watches TV.

Oh, and I gave her a treat yesterday. I had been thinking about this for quite a while. On Saturday mornings, She likes to sleep late, which means We have to wait quite a long time for Our Breakfast. So I was thinking, how can I wake her up gently. I thought and thought, and then I came up with a brainwave! How about a shampoo and head massage?

No sooner had the idea come to Me, than Deed followed Thought. Out came my raspy little pink tongue and I started vigorously grooming Mummy.
And She woke up.
And She said it tickled.
But She didn't push Me away.
But - She didn't get up.

So I called on Shimshi for assistance. And he jumped on her tummy.
So She rolled over on her side and Shimshi and I called on Trixie to help Us.
Trixie, being a ladycat, was much more subtle. She gently took Mummy's hand between her teeth and pulled - effur so gently, at furrst and then, when that didn't work, a bit more insistently.

And Mummy finally awoke from her dream (which was probably about which flavour Fancy Feast She was going to give Us for Our Shabbat Breakfast) and, with heroic devotion to Our Welfare, dragged herself from her Nice Warm Bed and set about her Duty of Feeding Us.

After that, She made herself some coffee and a sandwich and went back to bed, while We did our Morning Exercise - zoomies on the staircase. Then we went and curled up on the sofa and rested and waited patiently for Mummy to give Us lunch.

We hope you all had a similarly restful weekend. Do drop by and tell Us all about it.
We love hearing from our anipals and also from our Human admirers.

Have a great week.

The Deadly Lilies

Hallo again, Effurrybuddies!

It's not really my turn to post this week, but Trixie and Caspurr agreed to let me, so I could tell you all about the Traumatic Time I have had over the last few days!

It's all Mummy's fault for being so careless, really. I mean, She knows that Lilies are Furry, Furry Dangerous to kitties! She had Introoders for afternoon tea on Furrsday, and they brought her flowers. The flowers included lilies. Now, Mummy knows lilies are poisonous for Us, but since She had shut Us up in the bedroom, and the only vase tall enough for the lilies was also in the bedroom, she put the bouquet of flowers down on the dining-room table, meaning to arrange them later, after the Introoders had gone.

But after Mummy had given them tea and Chocolate Cream Cake, the Introoders asked if She could let Us out, because they wanted to meet Us. So Mummy (who by now had furr-gotten that She had left the flowers on the table) opened the bedroom door and I came shooting out. I was furry friendly with the Introoders, especially the Lady Introoder, but Caspurr and Trixie stayed in the bedroom. Then, after a while, because I was so Good and Quiet, Mummy almost furr-got I was there until She turned round for a moment and saw Me with my head inside the cellophane wrapping of the bouquet. She got into a Terrible Tizz, whisked the flowers away and put them in the bathroom, behind a closed door.

After that, Trixie also ventured out, and sat on the radiator, but Caspurr remained hidden in the bedroom till the Introoders had gone. Then Mummy found the tall vase and started arranging the pretty flowers and noticed that one of the lily leaves seemed to have toothmarks. So she got in a Tizz again and phoned Dr. Einat to find out who was the Emergency V-e-t that evening. Dr. Einat said it was okay to wait till the following morning and in the meantime, to give Me something with lots of salt in it to make Me vomit. So that's what Mummy did - only I didn't vomit. But it did make Me furry thirsty so I drank a lot and that also worried Mummy. And then Mummy started checking up on the internet and read that salt is no longer recommended to make kitties vomit because that too is bad for our kidneys.

Anyway, Mummy dragged Me off to the v-e-t furrst thing Friday morning and that's when My Real Trauma started.

Kitties! The v-e-t stabbed Me in the leg with a horrid, sharp needle and stole my bloods. And then she stabbed Me in another leg and connected Me up to a long, plastic tube which was attached to a plastic bag, with some kind of liquid in it, and I was imprisoned there the whole morning, while that liquid dripped into me. I thought I was being poisoned! And Mummy went away and left Me there for a gazillion hours and there was a Woofie on the floor next to My Prison Cage, who was getting antibiotics and he didn't even want to talk to Me. So I was Bored, in addition to effurrything else!

When Mummy finally came back, the v-e-t took the tube off my leg and that also took ages and ages, because She had fixed it on so furr-mly, to make sure I didn't pull it out. It took three people to hold Me down while the v-e-t removed the tube - Dr. Einat and her assistant and Mummy also.

Then Mummy took Me home in a taxi and we waited for the results of my blood tests. Dr. Einat phoned Mummy in the afternoon as soon as she got a reply from the lab.

Well, kitties (and woofies and other anipals - and Humans too)!
We are all furry relieved to say that my blood tests showed that effurrything was normal. No damage to My Kidneys.
But my Dignity! That's Another Matter Entirely. Not to mention the Trauma!
It'll be a long time before I furr-give Mummy! As for the Evil V-e-t...  Do you know, she actually had the chutzpah to say I am overweight?!!

Anyway, it's now midday Sunday and I feel fine, as we told the v-e-t's assistant who just phoned to enquire how I am doing. Mummy has put the pretty flowers in the bathroom, where they go beautifully with the decor, She says. They have opened up now, more than you can see in the picture.

Now I am going to get back to the Impawtant Business of Life - napping! Dictating such a long bloggie to My Secretary has tired Me out.

See you all next week.

The Mighty Shimshon (Shimshi for short)

After The Storm

Hallo again, Effurrybuddies!

It is Me again, the Mighty Shimshon (Shimshi for short)!
It has been such an exciting week, kitties, woofies and other anipals (and Human Followers)!
We had a Snowstorm!

I have neffur seen snow before, because I was born in April and this was my furry furrst Winter. I asked Caspurr and Trixie what "snow" is and Trixie told me all about it.

It was supposed to start on Wednesday, but there wasn't really furry much snow and Trixie was furry disappointed. And I wondered what all the fuss was about. But on Furr-iday afternoon, it started again.

Trixie jumped up onto the window-sill in the living room and got all excited as the snowflakes got bigger and bigger and came down faster and faster:

Can you see Me in the picture, kitties? I wanted to help her, but I didn't see how we could possibly catch the snowflakes, since the window was closed. I'm glad it was closed, because it was furry, furry cold!

I think part of the reason Trixie was so excited was because she caught sight of this big birdie that took shelter in a palm tree right outside the window, even as the wind rose higher and higher. The rain didn't scare the birdie, nor did the hail, and it wasn't until the snow got really serious that the birdie flew away.

Afterwards, the snow came down really heavily. Caspurr decided to go to sleep and I thought I might as well join him.

We snuggled up on the chairs by the radiator, because Mummy had put on the central heating and it was nice and warm. Trixie preferred to sit on the radiator. She is furry sensitive to the cold, you see - despite her curious liking for snowflakes.

When we woke up later in the evening, the snow had settled. This is what the windowbox in Our Room looked like:

Mummy went around with her flashy box and took pictures from all the windows - which she opened, and all the Cold Air came in! Brrrrr!!!

This is the scene in the street down below:

On the other side of the apartment, it wasn't possible to see much from the big living-room window because it was too dark, but the following morning, effurrything was white and furry, furry pretty!

So, I have learned something new, kitties. I have learned all about SNOW. And I think it's furry nice to look at, as long as you're doing the looking from a nice, warm house, and have somewhere cosy to curl up and watch it from a distance. And then, when you're tired of it, you can return to the impawtant business of life - like napping (mol).

Enjoy what's left of the weekend, anipals. And have a good week.
